Swaps are the real waste budget
Base haul rates get the attention, but swap timing drives total cost. Scheduled swaps cost roughly half of emergency same-day requests, and projects that plan swap cadence at kickoff avoid most overflow charges.
Right-sizing beats up-sizing
The instinct to order the biggest container backfires: partially filled large containers still pay full haul rates. Matching container size to phase-specific debris streams outperforms one-size-fits-the-project ordering.
Demolition and finish phases behave differently
Demolition fills fast and heavy; finish phases fill slow and light. Splitting the two into separate service plans reduces both overage fees and idle container days.
